Is Salvation a process or a quick decision?

It seems to me that we do not become a Christian upon our own whim. Like saying 'I just think I might try christianity and see if it works'.

If you were going to move to a new house in a new country, it would take an enormous amount of preparation to do so. A lot of things would need to happen first to make sure you even want to do it in the first place. Coming to Christ is like this too!

Moving house though. Why not just stay where you are? Its comfortable here. I would lose contact with my friends. Some things I would not be able to do any longer. But a lot of things may stack up for the move: A better job, friends who have moved there, or family. I don't like this country anymore and that one has better things: better health service, better weather, less tax, better schools, more leisure facilities. You don't make your mind up overnight.

There is a process to making the biggest decision you have made to date.

Even more radical than moving to a new house in a new country, is becoming a Christian. Why?Because IT IS A CHANGE FROM ONE KINGDOM TO ANOTHER. From the Kingdom of Darkness to the Kingdom of Jesus, the Son of God's love.

But do we make that decision ourselves based on a sudden burst of faith, or does God keep showing us the advantages of making the free choice to move to becoming a citizen of God's Kingdom?
